DBA game 5

Ok, let's at least drag this one out a bit longer...

Against one JD, one of the locals and no slouch with the dice. Running the Medieval Germans.

Must be fatigue, or perhaps just gamer psychology that we don't remember the details of our losses... For loose I did, but I don't remember how now.

I did cause one casualty though, so got a 2-8 from it.

DBA Game 4

After lunch and a short wander around the merchants, it was 'bob to the top time'. So I drew up against the eventual recipient of 2nd place.

Medieval Polish, another Cav heavy army.

I was attacking and therefore he was able to switch the matchups away from my Elephant. But it hardly mattered...
On my right flank, where I thought I was going to be fairly strong with Cav and the LH against Cav it was over in just a few rolls. 6-1s and the ensuing overlaps just slaughtered me on the spot. Game over 1-8.

All of about 15 minutes, if that.

DBA game 3

Against Free Company. Defended again. Many knights. An artillery piece and bow and blade.

Managed to line my elephant against his Kn Gen, but got my Cav chopped up by the other knights and some bow.
At the last moment the elephant salvaged some pride by trampling the General into the dust.
A 4-8 loss, but with some honour.

Sunday DBA - Games 1 and 2

First game drew against one of the juniors. Very worried, as everyone knows that kids roll the best!
He's running French Ordonence, but isn't sure how to deploy, and fortunately doesn't pick the bow heavy option against me.
Managed to pick the fights I wanted as he came right at me. Got a well fought 8-1 win from him.

Game 2 against DH from Sydney and his Byzantines. Cav army vs Cav army.
Sneaky deployment almost saw my elephant into his Cav, but he managed to wheel enough to leave it without opponents (until it got into a blade right at the end)
That left a Cav scrimmage line battle.that some lucky rolls saw me come out on top of. Especially satisfying was when his one knight was pulled forward into my recoiling Cav line and left on its lonesome. The following combat took it down.
Got an 8-2 win from that one.
Really enjoying being back into DBA.

Saturday

Pretty quiet day today. Cruised the tables and stalls with Dad.
Helped out as a 'yellow top' for the afternoon in the games library. Picked up a game of RoboRally while I was there. Great game that I haven't played for years!
Great day, not regretting not doing 3 days of competition at all!

DBA -Part one

Friday afternoon picked up a game of DBA with DL. First game of that ruleset for years.
Timurids vs Sung Chinese. I think I acquitted a good effort for myself. 2-4 casualties in the end. That would be a 2-8 loss in the comp.

Smallworld!

Just had a game of 'Smallworld' (by Days of Wonder) with GoatFace and another guy (Tom).
CanCon has a game library running where you can borrow a game and give it a go. ($10 for the day)

Smallworld is great! Simple, elegant rules and well written. I understand now why the D6G rave about it.

Even better, a managed to squeak out a win... by a point :)
I think the seafaring-giants made the difference for me in the end.

CanCon 2012!

Woo hoo! 3 days of gaming.
Friday and Saturday will be roaming and pick-up games. Sunday will be 6 days of DBA with my Timurids.

Long time no game, no paint, no nuffin.
Achievements in gaming = 0
Still listening to "The d6 Generation" though. So I feel still in touch with what is going on in the gaming world. Kinda. They'll never really tell me about the new FoG ruleset, but I'm mostly covered.
